Where to eat in Honolulu like a local

I’ve been doing six years of research on this topic. Lots of places have been vetted just for this article.

Here’s a roundup of my favorite restaurants in Honolulu!

Livestock tavern— the ambiance of this place keeps pace with the caliber of the food. I have never ever eaten here and been anything less than impressed. Cocktails and food are all superb. If there’s one thing I’ll get on the menu over and over again, it’s the cornbread. It’s absolutely mouth watering.

Moku— in the mood for $10 pizza? Me too. Moku has the best happy hour where all their pizzas are just $10. The fish tacos are super good as well, and their cocktails speak for themselves. I also just love the SALT Kakaako area. It’s so fun and vibrant!

Doraku— love this sushi spot. Great happy hour and fantastic sushi. I also love the wagyu steak rice bowl!

Merriman’s— mix of elegance and laid back feel, this place has it all. I love when they have live music set up on the lanai, their happy hour is incredible, and the sage cocktail is my favorite! The bag o biscuits will never do you wrong, and if you can swing it: order the pot pie.

Hiking Hawaii Cafe—tried and true. And when I say tried, I mean I eat here probably once a week. Love the paninis, love the salads, and LOOVEEE the breakfast burrito.

Island Vintage Wine—has something for everyone. Literally. So cute, tucked away into the Royal Hawaiian shopping center, this place is sure to please.

I have more, but I’m gonna save them for another blog. See you soon!
